Drosselmeyer Nutcracker

Named after the magical Uncle Drosselmeyer in Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker" ballet, this is the first handheld nutcracker with double-lever action for easy operation and a conical container that collects the shells. It makes the perfect holiday gift or stocking stuffer. Cracks all hard-shelled nuts, with minimal damage to nut. Made from 100% recyclable zinc. Durable, solid construction. Innovative conical design accommodates various sizes of nuts. Double-lever mechanism for easy cracking with minimal exertion. Shell fragments are caught in the vessel, reducing mess. Dismantles for easy cleaning. Designed and made in Sweden.

Champion nutcracker for Hazelnuts
December 6, 2013
I've owned one of these nutcrackers for years. It was used occasionally but I generally relied on my board mounted cracker with an 18 inch handle... Crushed anything. Well I'm here to tell you that NO other nutcracker can compare to this Drosselmeyer when it comes to cracking Hazelnuts! Yea, those slippery little hard round fella's that other nutcracker give you fits with. With a single squeeze, the nut cracks and as you roll the cracked shells out of the nutcracker, you are left with a beautiful round hazelnut with no shells attached. Simply amazing!
So now I have my nutcracking board with mongo crusher on the counter but next to it sits my Drosselmeyer with a label on it that reads "Hazelnuts".
Enjoy!

Finally, something that cracks filberts easily.
November 2, 2013
We cracked quarts of hazelnuts/filberts with this. The alternative requires a bulkly cracker where you have to place each nut individually in a little cup. With this you can pop the nut in the cup and squeeze gently. Very easy to use for long periods of time. If you are cracking a few nuts it is true that the shells stay in the bottom, but if you're cracking and storing lots of nuts, you can hold it sideways over the uncracked nuts and finish the job very quickly. Hard to see in the picture, but it can stand upright or store in a small space. A child could crack hardshell nuts with this. Made in Sweden, which is reassuring. No sign of loosening yet. It does come in other attractive colors, so buy one so WS will stock them. I am getting them for everyone for Christmas.

not so great for almonds
Very nice design and great to know hazelnets/filberts crack great with this. Bought this based on the great reviews and have only tried this cracking almonds ...takes 2 cracks and a lot of peeling. So far, shelled almonds are cheaper and easier.....
