BIG Disappointment
May 13, 2013
This 16 cup processor was an exclusive and recommended by Williams Sonoma. To make a long story short I'm out of warranty by several months. During the last year it has become problematic. The motor will run and blade won't turn. A disaster when making mayonnaise. The latest problem is the option pads won't respond. The pulse will work about four times during session and then then blade turns continuously. During this ordeal no pad options work. The only way to turn off is to unplug it. Cuisinart won't step up and take responsibility for a faulty product. Oh, my larger inner bowl chipped and they did replace? Very impossible to clean. particles of food will even get Inside of handle and no way to clean. it will actually STINK!! Don't buy this!!
Cons: Quality, Difficult to Clean, Temperamental, Loud, High-Maintenance, inferior quality product

what a disappointment
March 20, 2013
It had such promise but the motor seizes up constantly. Food collected under the gasket and was very hard to clean. It had to be returned. however....Williams Sonoma customer service is absolutely the BEST.
Pros: Quiet
Cons: Difficult to Use, Difficult to Clean, High-Maintenance, motor seizes all the time

Favorite for Slicing and Dough
February 27, 2013
I appreciate having so many options with this food processor. I use the small bowl for nuts and smaller quantities, the large bowl for spanikopita ingredients and the medium bowl for practically everything else like mixing scone dough to slicing veggies. I really like the clear lidded storage box and how easily the components fit together. Although everything is dishwasher safe, I prefer to hand wash everything. It is heavy and larger than most processors, but I am still able to store it in the cabinet below the counter and lift it out when I need it. Highly recommended.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Quality, Easy to Clean, Versatile, Design, Assembly
Cons: Weight

Disappointed in Cuisinart customer service
February 8, 2013
After using only 2-3 times, I discovered a defect in the lid gasket. I called Cuisinart customer service. They asked for the serial number from the bottom. There is no serial number anywhere on the bottom. We offered to send a picture of the bottom, but they weren't interested. Because of this, they would not send a new lid until we paid to ship the old one back to them along with our proof of purchase.
I called Williams-Sonoma, explained the situation and they are sending a replacement for the whole processor. Once I receive it, then I will return defective one. I will probably not buy any more Cuisinart products, but will continue purchasing all of my kitchen needs through Williams-Sonoma!! They are wonderful!

It won't turn off!!
February 2, 2013
This is my second one as I had to return the first when it went nuts and would not turn off. I unplugged it and the on display would not turn off. WS was great and took it back and gave me another one with no questions asked I am experiencing the same problem and Cuisinart denies that they have had other complaints but a search of reviews shows that other have experienced the same problem. It is also impossible to clean the cover rim inside and the top does not lock in place well.

My Best Friend in the Kitchen
January 25, 2013
I love this food processor. I use it all the time. I am rather an accomplished cook and prepare dinner every night. My husband and I don't do take-out or really dine out very often (like once or twice a year), so having a machine that can assume some of the cutting, slicing, chopping tasks helps me considerably. I especially loved the DVD that came with the Machine. I watch it still, occasionally, for inspiration. I recommended it to my mother-in-law who loves it also.

Switch Bad After 5-Uses
December 31, 2012
I bought this just before we tore our kitchen apart for remodeling.  I might, if I was lucky, have used it five times before the power switch stuck on pulse.  I put it away, devoting our time to remodeling, and hoping it was a fluke.  I brought it out again later to see, and it was now stuck to On.  It's been setting in the cabinet ever since, wasting space.
Since this seems to be a known issue, I would think William Sonoma would see that the issue was resolved, particularly in my case.  I called about it but the customer service person just put me off saying they couldn't help, because I bought it so long ago.  Personally I don't think that should make a difference, since the bad control panel is a known issue.  Plus five uses for this kind of money is beyond unreasonable!
Cons: Quality, Difficult to Clean, Weight, Power, Temperamental, Difficult to Store, does not last

Time saver
December 27, 2012
This Cuisinart, with the couple of things that have been changed and enhanced, is so easy to use and clean, it makes cooking easier then ever. No recipe is daunting with the abilities of this machine. I am 63, usually cooking for just me, and it excites me to use so I am actually cooking more often for me. healthier with pleasure.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Time-saver, Power, Easy to Clean, Size, Speed, Versatile, Quiet, Design
Cons: Weight, just because i have aged. so i will leave it out

Too Heavy to be Practical
December 26, 2012
I purchased this online because I was attracted to the multiple sized containers. But the website did not mention the weight--this food processor weighs 25 pounds! That's 7 pounds more than the previous generation cuisinart. If you can get someone to set it up on your counter, have the space, and never need to move it, I suppose it would work, but I need to put it away after each use, and at the minimum I would need to move it around on a countertop. The website should indicate the weight, it would have saved them the cost of the free shipping. It's going back--what a disappointment.
Cons: Difficult to Store, too heavy

Excellent Time Saver
December 26, 2012
I just received this as a gift a few days ago and have already used it several times. It makes easy work of all my toughest slicing and shredding needs. Special holiday dishes that used to take hours of prep, took only minutes to assemble.
It is very hefty so it won't scoot across the counter as it chops. I was also impressed with how quietly it ran. I have it sitting next to my stand mixer and it is silent in comparison.
The only problem I have with this is finding a home for it in the cabinets; but I think it will be out so much it won't matter.
Pros: Easy to Use, Time-saver, Power, Size, Quiet
Cons: Difficult to Store

A Great Christmas Gift to Myself
December 25, 2012
This purchase, which was generated based upon an email I received from Williams-Sonoma, almost came across as an act of divine intervention. I had done considerable research after having two separate and equally disastrous purchases of food processors from two other companies in the past month. In the end, I had settled on buying a 14-cup Cuisinart Elite Collection food processor, and then came the miraculous email: a one-day sale for the 16-cup model and a price that was too good to pass up. I have really been giving the food processor a daily workout, and couldn't be happier with the results. I have had no problems with use and cleanup, and am looking forward to testing out many new recipes in short order. There is nothing in my mind that is a negative about this unit. It's powerful and tough with a sleek design. If you are serious about being in the kitchen, this is a must-have.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Quality, Time-saver, Power, Easy to Clean, Size, Speed, Versatile, Quiet, Design, Assembly

so disappointing
December 23, 2012
After 35 years of hard use, my original Cuisinart developed a crack in the base (still usable, but an excuse to buy this new one, and give the old one to my daughter) I am so disappointed! I cook a lot, and it's sometimes hard to plan your use of the 3 bowls properly. If you forget and use the medium one first, then you can't use the small one, as the medium one has to be there too. They're hard to clean, and messy. I realized recently that I don't use it as much as my old one - it's just easier to chop by hand now. I guess I should be glad it doesn't overheat, but I just wish I could have my old one back!
Pros: Power, Size, Quiet
Cons: Difficult to Use, Quality, Difficult to Clean, Temperamental, High-Maintenance, Fragile

motor overheats easily
December 12, 2012
Motor overheated after a few pulses while making a second tart crust which consisted of 2 c flour and 1 c butter. Processor wasn't even a year old. WS replaced it but I was advised that 'this machine is not industrial grade and was not made to be used this much. It should only be used once a day.' A few pulses to make dough for two tarts is too much? I've always owned a Cuisinart and wanted to upgrade from my 11 cup machine to a larger version. This will be the last Cuisinart I purchase. Their quality has obviously changed. When it works, it is a nice machine. After reading other reviews on this site, I'm sure the replacement machine will have the same problem.
Cons: Quality

New Replacement Processor Overheats w/ first use
First use w/ the a newly replaced food processor and it overheated. Pulsed 12 times 2 cups flour and 1 stick of butter. It couldn't handle it. Williams Sonoma should stop carrying this product. It obviously has defects.

Poor Quality Motor
December 9, 2012
How did this get 4.5 stars? I hope customers are reading the reviews. This processor has known motor problems yet Cuisinart keeps manufacturing them in China with the same Overheating and seizing up problems. I've returned two and I'm done with Cuisinart. It is not the product my Mom purchased years ago sadly. The shredder also leaves veggies in chunks as they get through the side of the discs. William Sonoma is great about handling returns and service.
Pros: Power, Speed, Versatile, Design
Cons: Difficult to Clean, Weight, Temperamental, Difficult to Store, Size, motor breaks down, shreds in chunks

All around pretty good.....
December 2, 2012
I like having the three bowls for differently sized tasks. It makes dough like a champ. My BIG disappointment is the shredding disc. When shredding potatoes for hash browns or carrots for a salad, big pieces end up between the disc and the top, making the machine unbalanced.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Quality, Time-saver, Power, Size, Speed, Versatile, Assembly
Cons: shredding disc gets stuck with end pieces

Great processor
November 26, 2012
My cuisinart food processor finally died after 20 years of hard use. So I purchased the 16 cup elite. I love it. It can do just about everything . I watched the video before I began to use it and read the instructions carefully. Both were very helpful. I don't know why some people gave this processor a negative review.Possibly they didn't read the instructions or watch the video.

Kudos Williams-Sonoma, Shame-on-you Cuisinart
November 23, 2012
I have always owned a cuisinart! I had 14 cup DLC machine with two work bowls, and a smaller 7cp. In 2010 my friend and I both bought the new elite fp16. She returned hers after two weeks because the overheat circuit kept turning it off. After two years, mine now does the same thing and more. It gets stuck on, even after being unplugged and replugged in (found many amazon reviews that said the same). Williams-Sonoma is great!! I had my original receipt--they replaced it!! KUDOS to Williams-Sonoma!! Unfortunately, the new one has the same problem. It shuts off making a pie crust with 4cups of flour, and crushing graham crackers for a crust. These are not hard-working motor tasks. The new one is going back for something not made-in-China. I loved this machine: the three bowls, dishwasher safe parts, snap-on lids, accessory box. For the price, it is made like garbage. Great product, if you are lucky to get a good one.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: Quality, Temperamental, manufacturing problem

Same experience; thks Williams-Sonoma
When my 16 cup elite wouldn't shut off (just out of warranty) Williams Sonoma stepped in and satisfied this loyal customer. I was so pleased that loyalty works two ways. I hope Cuisinart gets its quality back because I really want to continue owning their processors. My first DLC Super Pro lasted 25 years and I have purchased several for gifts and other purposes through the years. The quality of the elite series has to improve to win me back.

Poor Quality!
October 23, 2012
I had to replace the work bowl lid (electrical contact stopped working) less than a year in. I am now on my THIRD work bowl lid, and now the touch pad has stopped working except for the "pulse," which does me absolutely no good if I can't turn the machine ON! I'm really ticked at this point. For the price, I expected better quality. I still have my 30-yr-old Cuisinart that was built by Robot Coup, so it's not like I'm tearing the machine up! In fact, the last 3 Cuisinart products I've purchased have had problems out of the box, during the warranty period of shortly thereafter. I'm not sure I can afford the cost or aggravation of purchasing anything else with this brand name again. It's a shame because they used to be great. Now? Poor quality. Really poor.
Pros: Power, Versatile, Quiet
Cons: Quality, Temperamental

Cannot turn it off
Last reviewed on Feb 2012 with three stars, but now must update with one star.
Last reported disappointment with performance in shredding and mixing dough and difficulty in cleaning. Now that it is just out of warranty, the unit will not shut OFF. I must push the top to the side or pull the plug to turn it off. Three years of mediocre performance following 25 years with my original DLC 7 super pro. Stick to the 14 cup that is not part of the Elite series. It is still a superior unit.

Went Back to the Original
October 14, 2012
My mother bought one of these and gave me her old one that she received as a wedding gift over 35 years ago. After we tried it out a few times and leaked over every other bowl within it (as you have to keep them in to use the smaller ones), we returned it and the people at WS were flabbergasted. Mind you this was just a few months after it had come out and they had not heard of this happening before. Needless to say, she took back her original Cusinart.
We love the original, but I'm sad to not get the old one... a few years later I'm still waiting for a Cuisinart, aka food processor, of my own.
Cons: Difficult to Use, Difficult to Clean, Assembly, High-Maintenance
