making my life easier

This knife makes cutting a baguette so much easier and so much quicker. We also used it for cutting meat and it cuts thin slices easily and quickly. Our platter looks so much better now.

I actually had to return this knife as it was not easy to handle...It became very slippery ....

Poor quality

We purchased the Cuisinart EK about two years ago as it appeared to be the best built EK with the nicest accessories. Unfortunately, the trigger broke after using it approximately 10 times ( special occasions-prime rib and/or lamb chops). Upon examining the trigger mechanism, I noticed that the hinge that hold holds the trigger to the handle was made of plastic.

When this thing works there is nothing better. However, my first one burned out after infrequent use and with my second one the blades started slipping out of the actual machine while the machine was on - kinda scary.
I'll still buy another but this product has lessened in quality over the past number of years.

Cuisinart knife, stops working after a few months

This is my second Cuisinart Electric Knife, I agree that it cuts so smoothly, but it stops working after a dozen uses.The blades are awesome, but the motor begins to smell and the knife stops cutting, then it cuts for 3 seconds and dies. I contacted Cuisinart customer service, but they never responded. Wish they would read our reviews and fix the problem.

I have used my knife about 8 times max in a little over 2 years and just had the exact thing happen!! Cuisinart told me it was out of warrenty but fortunately I kept my receipt so Cuisinart told me to send it back. We shall see what happens. I am extremely disappointment in this item.

Not worth the money
I've had the same experience with this knife. It works great, for a while, then smells funny and proceeds to die. I expect more than this from a company that is supposed ot produce superior products. They need to go back to the drawing board on this one.

I haven't used an electric knife for years. I needed one to cut foam for a window seat. This knife is awesome! It cuts like butter. I'm going to make a roast just so I can use it again.

works great for about 2 years

I have had this knife for about 2-1/2 years. It worked great absolutely loved it until 2 months ago. Intermittent working and finally 3 nights ago it died. I have used it mainly for cutting roasts and bread and used it at least once a week if not more. For the money and Cuisinart name you would think it would last longer.

My experience is identical to jujub's. It started working intermittenly after 18 months then died totally a few weeks later. Very disappearing for the name and product. What are the options for a decent electric knife?

I love this knife for cutting a roast or ham. The shape of the blades makes this knife inappropriate for filleting fish, so my husband was disappointed. But I like It.

Hard to beat

We bought this as a replacement for an old electric knife that finally gave up the ghost. This one is really nice... good ergonomic feel, nice to have two blades and the storage rack, too. I haven't had this very long, so can't speak to longevity, etc., but the quality and build seems pretty solid to me.

I have used this every 4-5 days for slicing bread and on ocasion for roasts or turkey. After 18 months it died. For the price I would expect this to last longer.

Do Not Buy This Knife

I received this knife for an anniversary gift, it stopped working after a short time. My daughter purchased another of the same brand and it also only worked a short time, like not even a year. I only used it occassionally so it was not abused. Terrible product. I contacted Cuisinart with the first one and they said it was out of warranty. No help on their part. Wish my daughter would have purchased a different brand as this one

Great Knife

Arrived just before Christmas in time for the turkey carve. Not only carved the turkey with ease, but easily chopped up the carcus for making soup. Great storage system too.

After using only a dozen times in the last year the knife now freezes up cutting the easiest thing like a loaf of bread and I can smell the motor. Will look else where for another.

The only drawback is that it is not a cordless. Otherwise, it went through the turkeys like melted butter.

Your concern was that the knife failed after 18 months and the cost of replacement. Guess what, there's a 36 month warrenty. Take it back to WS and get it fixed or replaced.... cheers

Great until it breaks

I love the electric knife. Easiest implement for slicing home-baked bread, watermelon, ribs, corn, etc. Allows for good control. However, the motor broke after about 1.5 years (we'd use it 1-3 times/month) when skinning a lightly cooked pumpkin. I was disappointed as my mother's electric knife from the late 70's still works! I'd only recommend this to someone who has enough money to spend $50 every year or two on a new electric knife.

The Cuisinart Elect. Knife was a gift for my son at Christmas. He is delighted and says there is nothing that he would change. He loves to cook and it is used regurarly. I will now purchase one for myself.
