Easy and delicious dish

This sauce is flavorful and rich. I braise the chicken and then saute onions and a variety of peppers layer it in a crock pot with the sauce and you have a fabulous dinner worthy of company presentation. Add pasta, salad and bread and your meal is complete.

Even my picky 11 year old loved this sauce. She thought the mushrooms were small bits of beef and still loved it when I let her in on the 'secret'.

I've tried several recipes for chicken cacciatore but none of them had much oomph in them (lack of depth of flavor.)
Short on time, I bought this and put it in a crockpot with my chicken. Wow! It is fantastic. I've bought it several times more...

I think of all the bases, this is the family's favorite. It is flavorful enough for all (children and adults) but not overpowering.

Another great WS sauce!

Tried this for the first time last night and it was a big hit with my husband and three teenage athletes! Browned some boneless skinless chicken thighs in a Dutch oven and poured the sauce over all. Put the pot in a 350 degree oven for about an hour and served it over angel hair pasta. The house smelled amazing and the dish was fantastic --like I'd been cooking all day. Nobody would ever know it was from a jar! Yum!

A wonderful sauce for chicken. I browned a whole cut up chicken and added the chicken to the crockpot, added the jar of sauce and cooked on low all day. The house smelled wonderful! Serve with pasta, a crisp salad, and garlic bread! Wonderful!

I have used WS food items for a number of years, so it was not a big surprise that this cacciatore base was so amazing. But oh, my gosh... it is just fantastic. I could spend all day trying to prepare chicken cacciatore from scratch and could not possibly come up with something as wonderful as this is. Does it cost a little more than some store brand? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely. You get what you pay for.

Just finished up dinner - Mmmm... yummy!! I'll definitely purchase again and keep a stock in my pantry. Everyone had seconds and there were no leftovers. Best starter sauce ever!

I told my husband how much the jar cost before I made the meal. Lets just say he was "skeptical" LOL. While he ate it was all Mmm's and then I had to fight him away from the leftovers. I didn't think they were going to make it to a second meal! He wants me to buy 2 jars next time!

I just made this on Monday. It was easy like most of the other sauces, but not better than a Wegmans recipe I had tried within the last few months. My two kids, 10 and 13 ate it because they were hungry, but did not care for it. I most likely will not purchase this particular base again.

Our go-to sauce

This sauce makes preparing chicken cacciatore easy. We flour and brown six chicken thighs and then put them in our slow cooker with this sauce. In the evening, we have a delicious meal. It's that simple. Given our busy schedules, we keep a jar or two of this in our kitchen at all times.
