Caso Blue Two Induction Burner

If you're just beginning to work with induction cooking, this compact, user-friendly burner is the perfect choice. It relies on safe, energy-efficient electromagnetic technology to transfer heat to the bottom of cookware, while the ceramic cooking surface itself remains cool to the touch. Portable burner is ideal for buffet service, tableside cooking or transporting to a vacation home. Power levels make it easy to customize cooking. For precision heating, ten pre-set temperature controls range from 140deg.-430deg.F. Easy-to-use dial controls with extra-large digital display and 3-hour timer. Electronic sensor detects when a pot or pan is placed on the cooking surface; an auto shut-off feature prevents overheating. 1400 watts. For use only with induction-ready cookware. Examples of suitable cookware materials include magnetic stainless steel, enameled steel and cast iron - copper, aluminum and glass are not compatible. A Williams-Sonoma exclusive.

Caso Induction Burner is great
August 27, 2011
I purchased this several weeks ago when the price dropped to $99. I can a lot of food during the summer and it has been a wonderful help this summer. I am amazed by how fast water boils. It is light weight and easy to move around the kitchen. I love having another burner. We have a 5th wheel camper and it will go with us on camping trips in the future. Great product for the price. I have used mine nonstop since getting it. I haven't had a minutes problem with it. It works as promised. Just make sure you have cookware that will work with an induction burner.
Pros: Easy to Use, Power, Easy to Clean, Easy to Store, Size, Speed, Versatile, Quiet, Design

Uneven Heating
December 24, 2010
Caso Blue has a simple clean appearance, with controls that allows setting discrete power and temperature levels. The unit was intuitive to operate and not noisy; the cooling fan is just noticeable.
Why the unit was returned was because the heating was uneven on my new 12" All-Clad d5 frypan. This was determined by an infrared cooking thermometer and watching the butter brown in circular rings on the frypan. As well, the temperatures were hotter on the pan's surface than the setting.
All-Clad responded to my inquiry: “The [frypan] heated cooking surface should correspond accordingly with the size of the induction burner and the area that the induction burner covers when it comes into contact with the bottom of the cookware product…. If the burner is too small in comparison to the bottom of the cookware product or does not sit flat on the cook top there is potential for uneven heating and cooking.”
My next purchase will be the All-Clad burner.

Thank you so much for your review, I wanted to know if the new induction-specific all clad would address the shortcomminigs of a cheap induction burner (I have the max Burton). It is odd no reviews of the d5 mention its performance on induction.

Not what I expected
October 23, 2010
You are only able to select a predetermined temperature. For example, there is a 180 degree temp, which cooks too slow, and the next temp is 210 degrees which cooks to fast. There is no in between setting. Also, the induction burner does get warm to hot to the touch.

better than gas

This is a great product except that guidelines and instructions are lacking on how to coordinate the power and temperature controls for most effective use of this product. .
