Very aggravated

Bought the first one in January, it stopped grinding last week so I returned it for a new one. Now this morning it stopped brewing mid cycle and I can't get it too make coffee for anything. Have started over 4 times and wasted a ton of coffee trying to get it to work. It's going back today.

High maintenance

We were excited to get this coffee maker, but it has been a disappointment. We followed all of the maintenance schedules and in less than one year we had problems with the grinder and now it does not register water going into the well. For this price, it should have been much easier to use. I will go back to the Cuisinart that I had for years and am still using in the office. I really would like a refund, but we spent too much time trying to fix and troubleshoot.

Not too happy

The first two pots we made overflowed. So we dropped from 10 cups to 6 and it was fine. But the coffee is so strong even on the mildest setting that we couldn't drink it. You can't adjust the amount of beans being disbursed, and the instructions basically say to "live with it," because Breville has decided this is the best coffee to water ration. I didn't spend $300 on a coffee maker to drink consistently bad coffee. So we returned it. Also, very hard to pour the water in without spilling it everywhere.

Good coffee but worked for 3 days

The unit is pretty big, so make sure you have room on your kitchen counter. As a European, I would say that design could be improved to look more graceful. That being said, after you read all the instructions, it is easy to use and makes very good coffee. But... it worked for 3 days and the water stopped flowing into the basket. My engineer husband read the instructions, cleaned, re-cleaned and tested, looked online, but.. no luck. I am in the process of returning it. I will give Breville one more chance but I will watch my end-of-warranty date like a hawk. My previous Cuisinart coffee-maker lasted 15 years. I am very tired of manufacturers turning out shoddy products ready for the landfill after 2 years. Sigh..

High Maintenance

I usually don't do reviews but in this case I have to. This is a high maintenance machine and for the average cup of coffee that it makes, it is a waste of money. My burr grinder broke so I thought I would go to a one-step machine - hah! I am constantly descaling, declogging, and remaking. The unit is too high and needs to be pulled out each time. It uses way too much coffee for the strength (marginal) that it produces. It needs constant attention to some detail every time, which doesn't make a quick morning cup possible. Good thought - poor design.

Good coffee maker

I am writing that my wife and I enjoyed this coffee maker very much. It has excellent features such as a timer and grinder. What I am writing about is the service from William Sonoma. We had our coffee maker for almost one year when it started to have a problem with the grinder. We were in the Grand Rapids michigan store when I mentioned this to an employee Nancy. She went to her manager and voiced our complaint. They both wished that we were happy customers and told us to bring our coffee maker back. Our coffee maker was replaced free of charge. I love the coffee maker but was extremely impressed with Nancy and the stores policy to keep the customer happy.

Awesome machine

Awesome machine but must follow direction exactly. If you forget to empty the grounds or pot it will jam or overflow and take very long time to correct. That said, if you follow directions exactly it works brilliantly and produces an awesome pot of coffee. Very pleased.

No warmer under carafe

Love this coffee maker except for the fact that Breville did not install a warmer to keep the coffee at optimal temperature. Really feel Beville did not think this though properly. Too bad, cause this is a very expensive investment not to have a warmer which probably cost them next to nothing.
Very difficult to clean filter compartment.
Also feel that the coffee bean compartment should have been in the rear of the unit, so we don't have to fill it so often.
An automatic water filler port would have been a nice touch, so we would not have to fill all the time.

Great disappointment

I purchased this to replace my worn out keurig. My complaints:
-Coffee is NOT hot enough
-Intense is really just slightly more than a medium strength cup, this may be because not all the grounds are getting wet in the brewing process. I like a good strong cup of coffee and this machine does NOT make one.
-the smallest size on the single cup is way too large. I cannot use my favorite coffee cup which is 6 oz. It overflows.
-the metal carafe poor spout is cumbersome, especially when pooring the last two cups. You end up tipping it back and forth to get little spurts of coffee to come out.
-The quality of the coffee is only slightly better than normal drip machine, except you have less control over the strength
-although it does just fit under my cabinets, I have to drag it out from under to add water or coffee, which is pretty much every day.

Love this machine! The coffee comes out nice and hot!!! It is easy clean up along with the fantastic feature of cup to carafe. I love the fact you can make just one cup of coffee and the machine gives you the option of size! The one cup varies from 8 oz to x-large travel mug. With that one cup, you can still grind the beans giving you that fresh flavor you get in a carafe of coffee....great machine!

Be sure to research this product thoroughly, because the quality is inconsistent. We have had two of these in our family, and both have failed to deliver. BOTH have given error messages to clean the grinder chute, and stopped working; in BOTH cases there was no amount of brushing, cleaning or even canned air cleaning that would make the error message go away. A call to Breville gave an immediate familiarity with the error message (i.e. they had gotten a LOT of calls about it) and the fix was simple: Make sure that the seal is tight when you close the filter housing unit. The problem is, that did not work either.
Everyone seems to know this is a very inconsistent machine. Buyer beware for sure!!

Best Coffee Pot I Have Used

This coffee pot keeps your coffee hotter than other one I have used. The grinder is quieter than any other one and the convenience of making either a carafe or cup/mug is a bonus. The last coffee maker I used was a Capresso and believe me this one is much better.

This Breville coffee maker brews a great pot of coffee. I love that you don't have to add beans every night for the next morning's pot. The noise level doesn't seem any higher than other grind and brew machines that we've owned. I would definitely recommend for coffee lovers.

Disappointed

I splurged & got this as a gift for my husband & I. It is quite large & didn't fit underneath our cabinets on the counter. Coffee had a good amount of "sludge" on the bottom of our mugs. The carafe opening is narrow & makes it difficult to clean. I have small hands & had to use a bottle brush (hand washing is recommended). The filter basket would spontaneously open while brewing. Back it went & we're back to using our old Brunn. Very expensive item to have these flaws.

Delicious Coffee!

This was my 7th Breville product purchase, so needless to say I'm a huge Breville fan. This coffee maker did not disappoint! Usual superior Breville build quality. I got tired of constantly having to hunt down discs for my Tassimo, so opted for something that would still allow a single cup and could make a full pot if I wanted to and be able to use my own beans.
Some of the negative reviews made me a little afraid to purchase, but trust me there are no worries as long as you READ and FOLLOW the instructions prior to use AND take the time to clean the machine properly after each use. This machine is still way easier to clean and has less parts than the Cuisinart Grind and Brew I had a couple of years ago. My coffee also comes out piping hot even without preheating the carafe and stays hot for at least three hours. Not sure of temp after that because I haven't let it sit around for longer. The coffee is just too delicious!
You can't go wrong with Breville!

Reviews are wrong- coffee is hot, machine is very neat- but reading the instruction book is helpful since it is a complicated machine because it does so much- yes burr grinders are loud- have used this machine every day for 2 weeks and it is great-

Returned it. The door kept swinging open as the coffee was brewing. Would have exchanged for a new one but the coffee was sludge at the bottom of the pot. I'm going to stick with Cuisinart Grind n Brew.

Almost perfect

I recently purchased this coffee maker after my old Capresso coffee maker gave out after 12+ years. As much as I liked my old Capresso, the Breville YouBrew is a significant upgrade. I love the way it looks and it makes a perfect cup of coffee with minimal input from me.
The only thing preventing me from giving this model the full 5 stars is the design of the carafe. Unfortunately, the wide rim at the top does not allow you to pour out all the delicious coffee contained within. When you get to the bottom of the carafe, you need to open the lid and tilt the carafe almost 180 degrees to get the remaining coffee out, and it usually creates a small mess with the spillage. Other than that though, this is a great coffee maker.

As Good as I Had Hoped

I wanted this coffeemaker the first time I saw it in Williams-Sonoma, but was unsure after reading some of the negative reviews. I was keeping my fingers crossed that the down-side experiences were mostly operator error. Sure enough, this machine brews great coffee. I've had no problems (just two days since Christmas) but I've tried out all the brewing modes and everything works great. The build quality is much better than lesser plastic-bodied coffeemakers and the combinations of features is really nice. Like other reviewers have said, the grinder is loud, but no louder than any other grinder I've heard and about the same as my Krups grinder. The coffee is much better than I've made in any other machine -- no bitterness. Even the unremarkable Folgers Decaf pre-ground coffee comes out great. I think I'll give up adding Half and Half so I can enjoy the coffee flavor.
