A place of honor on my counter.
May 14, 2013
This Breville kettle has been great so far: quick and quiet, looks good and is simple to use. While bigger than I need, I'm happy to make space for it in my small kitchen.

absolutely the best!
April 6, 2013
this is so much better than i expected. fill the pot to 750ml, push the button for french press, and in minutes you have the exact amount of water for a perfect pot of coffee: no wasted water, no splash-over because the water was too hot. it makes even lousy coffee taste good. who knew temp was so important? and the four buttons for various types of teas and boiling water make the whole process of having a cup of tea so much more fun. wish i'd bought it before this, and plan to give it as gifts to a select few. thanks, breville, for a wonderful product.

For a tea lover
March 29, 2013
I love it so much, I have one in my office and one at home. Boils water for black tea twice as fast as a kettle on the stove. Low profile heating element plugs in - kettle sets on top with safety-feature connection. It has cool extra design features like the sturdy plug which has a handy finger-sized hole in it (donut-ish) so you don't pull it out by the cord. Love the smooth latch mechanism on the lid. Comfortable handle for pouring a heavy kettle full of water. Push button settings make the perfect water temperature for brewing green, white, oolong and black tea. My coffee-drinking husband appreciates the setting for "French Press." I think the color and finish of the the brushed stainless steel is pretty.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Quality, Time-saver, Power, Easy to Clean, Size, Speed, Versatile, Quiet, Design

Great Teakettle But Needs TLC
December 2, 2012
We love this electric teakettle. We use it much more often than I anticipated. In addition to daily use for teas and coffee, I use it when cooking as it boils water much more quickly than my range does. But - after one year, it stopped working. The manager at Williams Sonoma thought the failure was caused by a miniscule dent in the coil that connects the kettle to the base. It broke a few months after the one year warranty ran out, luckily Williams Sonoma still replaced it, and explained how to keep it working for the long term. Caution: When you set the teakettle back on the base, make sure you line it up with the base and set it there very gently. If you don't, the coil can bend very easily and this eventually causes it to stop working. For the price Breville should improve the quality of the material to make it more durable and have more than a one-year warranty for a $130 tea kettle.
Pros: Time-saver, Speed, Versatile
Cons: Quality, Temperamental, Fragile

Makes my life at home great
September 20, 2012
I drink coffee all morning and various types of tea all afternoon -- and everything tastes SO much better using this variable-temperature kettle. I love its keep-at-the-right-temperature feature too, so I don't have to drop everything and rush to grab the water as soon as it beeps. It's very easy to keep clean too; I use their white vinegar method and Williams Sonoma's stainless steel cleaning cloth.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Quality, Power, Easy to Clean, Size, Speed, Versatile, Design, features

Good Product But Not Perfect for the Price
August 19, 2012
We have purchased 2 of these for our kids' dorms. They both love tea and coffee using a Japanese drip kettle. So, this was the perfect solution for both. It works exactly as described except for a few concerns:
1. For the price tag, it really should come with more than a 1 year limited warranty.
2. It's made in China.
3. Has a warning on the box that it contains chemicals known to cause cancer (a label required in the state of CA).
Otherwise, I'd recommend it, but think that the price for this unit is a bit over the top.
Pros: Easy to Use, Time-saver, Power, Easy to Clean, Size, Speed, Versatile, Quiet, Design, saves energy
Cons: Cost, not made in usa, not a good warranty

Excellent Kettle!

This is the best kettle we have ever owned. It is well designed, and the stainless steel complements our appliances. Though it is a simple feature, the beeping is extremely helpful.

Starts Great - But Only 1 Year
June 18, 2011
This was an expensive kettle and I had high expectations, for first 12 months it was great, then, it started malfunctioning a bit (not always switching off at boiling). At 18 months it stopped working (buttons beep but nothing happens). Breville representatives refused any help and reminded me the warranty was only 12 months, $150+ kettle I really expected it to work for more than a year, my $40 Philips kettle is still working great after 4-5 years of much harder use. Shame Breville don't stand behind their products!
Pros: Easy to Use, Design
Cons: Quality, Temperamental

I agree!
My story is the same. I was stricken by the price of this kettle, but my husband uses it daily and loves it. It's only 2 years old, and now has stopped beeping when it's ready. I am sorry to hear that Breville won't back it up. I'm wondering if Williams Sonoma will? It is apaling that this very expensive teapot has such a short life.

Worth Every Penny
June 16, 2011
I've had this kettle for almost 2 years, and use it every day. It is awesome, and the quality of my tea every morning has a new standard. I never bothered with the different temperatures for white vs black tea, etc., in the past - but I thoroughly enjoy the best pot of tea brewed perfectly. Very high quality machine - I am buying one for my office now, because it's so great I want it everywhere I'm making tea!
Also, I use it all the time just to heat water for all kinds of things - oatmeal, to get water going for pasta, you name it. It's an incredibly useful appliance that is much more of a staple in my kitchen than I'd imagined.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Quality, Time-saver, Power, Design

No more scalding hot drinks!
June 14, 2011
This kettle is worth every penny. I purchased it because I drink a lot of herbal tea and hot cocoa, as well as coffee made in a french press. The lower temperatures are ideal for cocoa and tea and I can drink my beverage right away without scalding. Coffee made in a french press tastes much better when brewed with water that is below boiling, and that is how I originally learned to make it in France!
It is fast, accurate, easy to use and easy to clean. I love it!

Our Tea and Coffee Kettle
June 11, 2011
Fed up with always replacing other kettles every year, we looked hard to buy a sensible one. While the price is high, the standard is very high. We have had the kettle a two weeks and love the idea of different temperatures. We like all tea's and coffee. I can honestly say the kettle is well worth the money and compliments the kitchen.

Great Tea Kettle
April 19, 2011
We've been using this kettle for about a month now and really love it. It heats water quickly and to the correct temperature for different teas. The only things that would make this perfect would be to have the water level measurements in ounces (since that is how our tea is measured) and to have some sort of built-in timer to time our tea steeping in our cups.
Pros: Easy to Use, Time-saver, Speed

This kettle is perfection!
March 9, 2011
My brother bought me this beautifully designed tea kettle a couple of years ago. As a result I think fondly of him every morning when I make my cups of tea.!
Love the variable temps for the water (according to what you're making), the fact that the kettle lifts off the base for easy pouring, the beautiful styling, the ability to hold the water temp & more!
If you have a tea lover in your life this kettle is the ultimate gift!

falls apart after less than a year
January 28, 2011
Much like many here I was delighted wiht the kettle and we use it daily for tea. However, after less than a year the kettle is leaking from the handle side and floods the base with water...
This is due to poor manufacturing of the rivets on the inside of the handle and when these fall off there are 2 large holes for water to leak out of...not good.
Much like everyone I have not kept the receipt from so long ago so we will see if Williams Sonoma stand behind their products and replace it?!
I will report back.

update, great customer service
after a few phone calls I took the broken kettle to a store that had a replacement and they simply replaced it. no hassles or long questions, I found my original amex payment to show it was less than a year old and they gave me a new one. so while the kettle broke the customer service shone, thats why I pay the extra $ to buy from Williams Sonoma!

ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
January 17, 2011
I am a tea drinker and have a beautiful tea kettle that sings for me when the water is hot. I drink all sorts of tea from white, green, black, to herbal drinks. When my family purchased the Breville Kettle for me last Mother's Day, I wasn't sure if I would like it.
LOVE IT - is what I have to say. Not only do I use this for tea water (the variable-temperature is oh so nice), I use it for my daily instant oatmeal. I haven't had ANY of the problems mentioned in other reviews. In fact, I am going to clean my old kettle and put it away.

I was warned but wanted the bells and whistles.
January 11, 2011
This is a wonderful appliance. With that being said, I must now add my warning. Like so many owners who are thrilled with the initial performance of the Breville kettle, it is a shame that it has developed so many problems. My kettle is leaking from the handle side and floods the base with water. I contacted the manufacturer, but they want so much documentation etc that I no longer have that I won't be able to return it. Too bad for me. This is an expensive lesson and I should have heeded the warnings of other users. BTW I have a $29.99 Hamilton Beach kettle that has worked beautifully for about 8 years. Nothing fancy, but it does the job just as fast without the puddle of water all over the counter. It's not cordless, nor does it have a temp control base. It just boils the water. Probably all anyone really needs anyway.
