Brasserie Blue-Banded Porcelain Soup Bowls

Classic dinnerware like this is popular in Parisian bistros and brasseries. Made of fully-glazed porcelain, the pieces are larger and heavier than standard tableware and are sturdy enough to go under the broiler. The pattern has a blue fillet border. Microwavable and dishwasher safe. 9" soup/pasta bowls, set of four. Made in Japan. A Williams-Sonoma exclusive.

These serve a perfect role in multiple categories: salad plate, soup bowl, pasta dish, general serving bowl. Save money and shelf space with this design. And they're attractive! A great price for something that looks so classy and will go with any table linen. I also love the coffee cups with saucers.
Pros: Quality, Easy to Store, Size, Appearance, Versatile

Very durable dishware

We bought the original set 10 years ago and used them daily. None of the pieces have chips, and we've only lost a few pieces by dropping them onto our tile counters in spectacular crashes.
When we bought the replacements, you could see that 10 years of diswashing had faded the blue a bit, but not enough to make the replacements stand out.
I highly recommend.
Other thoughts: soup bowls bowls and dinner plates can be difficult to fit efficiently in some dishwashers.
