Brasserie Blue-Banded Porcelain Salad Plates

Classic dinnerware like this is popular in Parisian bistros and brasseries. Made of fully-glazed porcelain, the pieces are larger and heavier than standard tableware and are sturdy enough to go under the broiler. The pattern has a blue fillet border. Microwavable and dishwasher safe. 9" salad plates, set of four. Made in Japan. A Williams-Sonoma exclusive.

Blue-band salad plates
August 18, 2011
I bought these to "try out" the Brasserie line since I don't live near a WS store and didn't want to have to return a large set if necessary. I now have these plus the cereal bowls and fully intend to expand my collection. They mix well with other white pieces and just say "quality". I did assume they were made in France, but are actually made in Japan for WS. They seem very durable so far; I love the weight and feel of them! (PS...just thought I'd plug the Reserve Program for those of you who don't have easy access to a store.....I've gotten my fee back several times over. Way worth it!)
Pros: Quality, Easy to Clean, Versatile, Design, Weight

We put these on our registry for our wedding back in 2001 and they still look fantastic. We use them daily -- sometimes even multiple times in a day!
They're great sandwich plates -- I love to serve a sliced sandwich and a cup of soup in the blue banded coffee mugs. So classy, but not too fussy.
A neighbor passed her checked-blue band salad plates from Williams-Sonoma down to us and they match perfectly. It's nice to have the slight variety. I wish they still sold this other design.

I have had this dinnerware for 8+ years and love it. It is a timeless design and very durable (but not unbreakable)! I replaced a few broken plates. Nice to know it is still available.
