Pure maple syrup is a treat in itself, but barrel aging transforms this organic premium-grade maple syrup into something truly extraordinary. Kettle-cooked syrup is aged for weeks in 12- to 18-year-old casks originally used to make bourbon. Richly aromatic flavor, with notes of butterscotch, vanilla, charred oak and bourbon (but without the alcohol). My husband thought I was crazy to buy such an expensive "Syrup". But after the first bite with the waffle, he make no more comments other than "Very Good". Expensive, but very very tasty.

Top Shelf Syrup

Head and shoulders above any syrup out there. There is such a deep, rich, but not cloying, flavour profile.
Gorgeous maple, accented by woody bourbon, slight smoke and vanilla. This has a complex profile of a good bourbon.
It has a terrific consistency. Not too thin, not to thick.
I have been adding this to desserts, dressings, slaws, sauces, braises and whatever else I can. It is a really nice foil to sour, tart or tangy elements in a dish.
Yes, it is more expensive that what you would find in the grocery store, but so very worth it. I cannot stress that enough.
The mass-produced/grocery store syrups shouldn't even be classified as syrup. The syrupy swill found in grocery stores is incredibly processed and artificial, not to mention that it hits the palate like a sugary glue.
This Blis syrup is so far beyond what most of us grew up with.
Consider yourself warned: This syrup is terribly addicitive! You will love it.

I have never been creative in the kitchen
but decided to add a few drops into my
corn bread batter. Wow, what a treat!
I have passed this tidbit onto my daughters-in-law and they love it.
Regular maple syrup doesn't do the trick.

Best Syrup Ever

I always buy the best quality everyday syrups in my regular upscale grocery stores and have found them satisfactory--until a dear friend gave me a bottle of Blis! It's thick, rich, and complex, and--warning--it will make other syrups pale by comparison. I am currently hoarding two extra bottles and have made it our everyday syrup. Think of the difference between fine wine and commodity wine. I consider myself a fairly worldly foodie, but I have never tried a syrup that could make itself the center of a breakfast!

Different for sure

I was curious what this would taste like; because I've never had aged maple syrup before. Now I know, it's like a dark rum (minus the alcohol and with a syrupy consistancy). It's good, but a bit too dark for me to use it with a lot of things, so I probably would not buy it again because A:Cost is high for the small amount you get and B It will not get enough use to justify buying it again.
So, I satisfied my curiosity. It's definitely different than non-aged syrup and it's good, but the rediculous cost is gonna take off a star.

I know what you're thinking...$28 for a bottle of maple syrup!!! Now hold that thought...
What originally interested me in the bourbon/sweet combination was an incredible funnel cake I had the other week with Jack Daniels caramel sauce over the top. It was out of this world. When I ran across this maple syrup, I figured hey, it worked for caramel, why not syrup?
Sure enough, it is incredible. It went too fast for me to justify nearly $30 for this syrup all the time, but when there is a special occasion, this syrup will always be a winner. Just try it once...it's worth it.
