Bamboo Cork Reversible Sharpening Board

From award-winning designer Pablo Baquero, this reversible board combines two eco-friendly materials - cork and bamboo - for twice the versatility. The cork, imported from Portugal, is ideal for delicate, precision knife work, as the surface holds food in place for extra control. The cork is also gentle on your finest cutlery and naturally resistant to stains and odors. Use the bamboo side as a traditional cutting board. A built-in ceramic honing rod makes it easy to maintain your knives. Inlaid cork cutting surface will not dull or damage fine knife edges and is more resistant to stains and odors than conventional wood boards. Cork is naturally nonabsorbent, antibacterial and antifungal. Reverse side is bamboo cutting board; milled from dense Tigris bamboo. Integrated ceramic honing rod helps you keep knives in prime condition. Channeled grooves on the cork side collect meat juices. Nonslip cork surfaces keep board anchored in place while cutting. Eco-friendly, chemical-free construction using renewable natural materials. 11" x 15" x 1/2" thick. 3.5 lb. Made in China. A Williams-Sonoma exclusive.

The bamboo lifts from the board if exposed to moisture, even the juice from slicing a tomato, amazing :o[ Even if you see this on sale, don't bite, honest :o[
Pros: there are none
Cons: Quality, Difficult to Clean, Weight, Difficult to Store, High-Maintenance, Fragile, sanitary? and on!

Poor Quality

I bought this in the store and liked the size. It, too, arrived with the sharpener broken as another reviewer mentioned.. Didn't think much of it, but as I have used this board over time--the cork is I think harder to clean than say wood, and it feels as though the structure is starting to loosen at the joints. I would advise finding another cutting board.
Pros: Size
Cons: Quality, Difficult to Clean

Beautiful but poor design

I got this for my birthday but as soon as I opened it, the sharpener part broke into three pieces. So I exchanged it tonight and when we came home and opened it up, we were shocked that the sharpener was already broken on this one as well! So, SO disappointing. If you don't need the sharpener, I imagine it's great otherwise. Very sturdy, although my husband said he felt it wasn't glued together very well (I don't notice that though). So buy this one with caution (if you have to buy it at all). It's a lot of money to spend on a cutting board that arrives broken! (Also, it has a strong smell, but maybe that is how it is supposed to smell?)
Pros: Weight
Cons: Quality, Fragile, smelly
