My new favorite pot
February 5, 2013
I have the 4 quart soup pots (2 of them) and the 6 quart Deep fry pan (whatever the name is) in d-5, so I thought this pot would be a good replacement for my Le Creuset pot, which is really heavy. It was expensive, but I got it on short-run, website only sale. I love the d-5 line, and this pot is no exception. I've used this 5.5 pot for sautéing -the high sides reduce the splatter-, for split pea soup and red beans and rice. I expect to use it often. It's a joy to use. It heats evenly and responds quickly to flame adjustments. It will hold a small amount as well as enough for a small group, and the wide surface area makes it easy to reduce liquid for a sauce. The lid fits really well, and I did not need to use a layer of foil with the lid when I made a pot roast. It's not non-stick, which I like, and hasn't been a problem to clean. Well worth the money, although I feel great that I got it slightly on sale.

The Pan of a Dozen Uses
December 30, 2011
This has become a real favorite pan. It can be used to stir fry, make sauces, and boil pasta. I even grab it as a large mixing bowl, so easy to maneuver because of the handles. The shape is great for soups, stews, vegetables, etc. because you can stir without 'corners' that catch food. I had to buy another for my cabin! It was too versatile not to have a second one.
